The Fourth Annual

"Drone Magic"

San Francisco International Bagpipe Festival

On December 10, 2005, the Croatian American Cultural Center hosted the Fourth Annual "Drone Magic: San Francisco International Bagpipe Festival". Organizers, "Living The Tradition" presented no less than 16 pipers representing the music of nine different cultures to a standing-room only audience for a nearly three-hour Pipers Extravaganza.

This year's Festival was especially exciting when many of the pipers performed with dancers and other musicians, giving the audience a first class musical and visual treat. The Festival also included a brief but remarkable video clip of a gypsy woman in Romania singing a bagpipe imitation, one of the very many she has preserved of her piper father's music. In addition, the audience had the opportunity to view an exhibition of traditional instruments - including many different types of bagpipes, and to purchase traditional (and delicious!) Hungarian Goulash and pastries.

Enjoy some of our memories of the festival through some photographs of the evening.
